I don’t use the description field that is empty but I use it in the Snippet editor, and the meta tag description is there.
I tried to add string text in description field, clear the cache, but the result is the same.
I use Archive Control Plugin that add code before and after Posts List, I don’t think could be a problem, because doesn’t touch the description in Editor Snippet.

I’ve checked your category page, and it seems that you haven’t filled the description field of the category page. Please see the screenshot in the sensitive data section.
I’ve already updated it and put a test description La storia del tappeto. You should see the description now along with the page number in the page’s source code.
