Rank Math,
Help please!
Analytics: Overall Optimization, I have these questions:
- Do you have a breakdown and description of how the scores are determined?
- Are you planning to provide a breakdown that points to the content that causes in the score?
Please advise.
Appreciated.

Hello,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
Are you referring to the page analysis? Assuming so, the tests/analysis done on the pages is in relation to the page keyword(s). Please go through this article to understand the tests and how the scores are determined: https://rankmath.com/kb/score-100-in-tests/
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Noted, thank you, Michael.
Oops, no, please see this:
Rank Math Overall OptimizationPlease advise.
Emmanuel
Hello,
The analytics optimization is your posts performance on Google, not on your site. This is different from the SEO analysis module which is used to give a general analysis of your site.
Hope this helps you. Thank you.
Noted, thank you, Michael.
Do you have any documentation informing on how the Overall Optimization score is determined by Rank Math/Google?
What I notice, is this Overall Optimization score increases as I improve the Rank Math score of each post.
For instance, I notice as I’m improving the SEO score of each post, based on Rank Math’s guidance, from say 60/100 to 85/100, the Overall Optimization score slowly increases.
This gives me the impression that Rank Math uses an algorithm for the Overall Optimization score.
Hence my question of do you have any Overall Optimization score documentation.
Please advise.
Appreciated.
Emmanuel.
Hello,
We do not have any documentation on the topic but we are getting the KB ready for it before the launch of our Pro. That will contain more details on what the features in the Analytics do.
Hope that helps.
Michael and Uzair,
Noted on all counts, thank you.
After a careful relook, I noticed the wording at the bottom of the screenshot.
Overall Optimization
52 is the average Rank Math’s SEO score. This chart shows how well your posts are optimized based on Rank Math’s scoring system. My request was originally for some documentation about the algorithm, and some details to assist me.
From what you state above, I understand this metric is about how the posts fare with Google.
Help please, is this about posts as they considered by Rank Math or by Google?
Please clarify.
Appreciated.
Emmanuel
Hello Emmanuel,
The algorithm used to create the performance score is based on Rank math and how your top posts are seen by Rank math to be optimized on Google. The check is done by Rank math not Google.
We will let you know as soon as we have updated data on this to our knowledge base, the documentation will have a more in depth explanation of each of the features.
Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.
Hello,
We wanted to add that we take into consideration only your Rank Math SEO score while calculating that optimization.
Good = Posts with a score of 81 and above.
Fair = Posts with a score of 51-80
Poor = Below 50.
No Data = Posts where you have not entered any focus keyword or let the tests run. So, posts without a score. Then, the Overall Optimization is the average of these internal SEO Scores.
Hope that offers some clarification while we get the KB ready.
Thank you.
Michael / Uzair,
Thank you and for clarifying.
Help please!
When looking at the screenshot above (repeated here for convenience) you see Poor = 7.
Overall OptimizationI don’t see these in any of my content.
1. Would you consider extending Rank Math to list which content is included as Poor metric? (maybe using a toggle to enable/disable the show details.)
2. I notice User & Profile entities are scored as zero even though I have those configured as noindex – how do I disable those so they’re not included in the Rank Math analysis?
Please advise.
Appreciated.

Noted on all counts, thank you, Michael.
Impressive plugin and documentation. 😀
When looking at my current Overall Optimization report, is my understanding correct, that to see which post is the culprit giving the Poor status, I need the Pro version so I get the Site Analysis report?
I have not been able to find the 1 Poor culprit by looking at the various Pages, Posts, and CPT content lists.
Please advise.
Appreciated.
Emmanuel
