Analytics

I switched from Yoast to Rank Math about 2 months ago. Before using Rank Math, I set up my GA code using the Header/Footer plugin.

I just discovered Google has de-indexed many of my blog posts and started showing the http version of my site instead. While it switched over to the https version, I of course would prefer that to be indexed.

In narrowing things down, I’m thinking this began when I switched to Rank Math and linked it to my GA without deleting the GA code in the header. How can I unlink Rank Math to my analytics account? I now only see a way to link it, not to reset it.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Could you please share the affected website so we can check as well?

Meanwhile, you can find the Google Analytics settings from your WordPress dashboard by going to Rank Math > General Settings > Analytics.

On the Analytics settings page, click the Disconnect button at the top right corner.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.

Yes. If you could check the site that would be great. culturestraveled.com

I’m not sure if I was clear but Google is ranking the http version of my site. My site should show up on the first page if you do a search for “oaxaca breakfast” or “is oaxaca safe”

I just can’t figure out where this is coming from but the timing coincides with adding Rank Math.

When I go into Analytics in Rank Math I don’t see disconnect, only to connect. But analytics from RM is showing in my dashboard and next to the button to connect it says Next data fetch on 07 Sep, 2022 00:09:52 (as if it is already connected).

    Hello,

to disconnect or reconnect Rank Math from Analytics, please go to Rank Math > General Settings > Analytics and click Reconnect/Disconnect as shown in the screenshot:

I checked your website and there are two analytics codes installed as you stated. You can turn off the setting to install an analytics code on the Rank Math > General Settings > Analytics page you can toggle off the “Install Analytics code” setting.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

I’m using the newest version of the plugin. However, I don’t have a disconnect button on my RankMath analytics page. My screen does not look like the screenshots you sent. I would send a screenshot but the only image option I see wants me to input a URL.

It has a big blue plugin that says “Connect Your Rank Math Account”. But I know I already did that. And you are saying that you see the code installed twice so I’m wondering why it doesn’t show as connected and thus a disconnect button.

But what I’m really trying to get to the bottom of is why Google is suddenly ranking the http version of my site (even though it forwards automatically to https). The error code I’m receiving in GSC is “Alternate page with proper canonical tag”

Everything points to the installation and connection of RankMath to my analytics account. Can you please look into this and provide insight?

    Hello,

You can upload the screenshots to https://imgbb.com/ and share the link with us.

The tracking code that is added in the page source is not added by Rank Math.

Please check if you have added the code manually or using some other plugin.

For the http issue, the canonical URL on the pages is pointing to the http version:
    not working

Please follow this guide to fix the issue:

    Hope this helps.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Anas,
Thank you for your response. It’s very helpful.

However, when I view the page source it shows the canonical as https (I’ve attached a screenshot). I’ve checked both the Mexico category page (as you did in the screenshot) as well as two individual posts that are now ranking as http.

A couple of days ago while I was poking around my GA, I went into Admin. In either the Property Settings or View Settings (I can’t remember which), the Default URL was set to http. Do you think this could be the source of my problem?

Another detail to note is that I created a new blog post since it seems this started happening and it also has the canonical error in GSC. I’m not sure if that gives you any clue, but I thought it may be useful.

As far as the analytics code. It was added via the Header and Footer plugin. Do you see it added twice or just once? My analytics stats don’t make me think it’s added twice but I could be wrong.

I don’t think I added the screenshot correctly. Here is the URL

    Hello,

I cleared my cache and rechecked the https://culturestraveled.com/mexico/ and the canonical was showing the HTTPS version correctly. Please request a recrawl of the affected URLs using the Google Search Console URL inspection tool: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/crawling/ask-google-to-recrawl#use-the-url-inspection-tool-just-a-few-urls

Your GA default URL settings will not affect how your website is indexed.

I double checked the analytics code, and it is added correctly so you do not need to make any adjustments there.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.
