  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The non-trailing slash version is still working fine while it should redirect to the trailing slash version. As the canonical is set to a path with a trailing slash (/)and most of your post/pages are also indexed on Google with a trailing slash, you need to make sure that the affected URL that you have shared is redirecting to a version where the trailing slash is added.

For example, redirect https://govt-vacancy.in/crpf-recruitment-asi-hc to https://govt-vacancy.in/crpf-recruitment-asi-hc/

Please head over to your WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and ensure you have configured the permalink structure like this: /%postname%/.

If that doesn’t work, then you need to redirect it using your .htaccess. Please choose your preferred version and redirect the other version to it. Here is a guide that might help you in this case: https://ahrefs.com/blog/trailing-slash/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

so tell me which is better for SEO. with Trailing slash or without slash page url

I have already set the permalink structure to /%postname%/ and the setting is set to https://govt-vacancy.in/sample-post/ but it is giving an error of canonical tag.
me jab bina slash(/) ke page url likh raha hu tab bhi post automatic slash(/) wale page par redirect hokar khul rahi hai.

If I redirect the URLs to slash(/) ones using Runkamath’s .htaccess setting, will this problem be solved?

“When I type the URL of my page without a trailing slash, it automatically opens on the page with a trailing slash. I checked the permalink settings in my WordPress and it was already set to “/%postname%/”. So why is there a problem with the canonical tag in Google Console?”
why is the google crawler crawling it?

    Hello,

Since the sitemap and the canonical are using the correct versions and they are matching the only way that Google might be seeing these URLs without the trailing slash is if you are using them on internal links without the correct variation.

From the data that our plugin generates everything is correctly set up so our recommendation is that you make sure you are not using these variations anywhere in the content of your website and then request the fix validation on Google Search Console to see if that helps.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
