Hi there,
Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.
The behavior you’re seeing is expected—WordPress automatically converts special characters (like “ș” or “–”) and spaces in filenames into dashes and plain characters for compatibility.
There’s no way Rank Math will be able to determine the correct characters since WordPress is serving images with filenames converted.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.
Hi,
You don’t get it. if I remove the Rank Math. my theme will serve the alt file as is it saved in wordpress media file … if i activate alt from rank math just in case i miss an alt to be generated will no longer the alt images already have, will add the alt from %filename% if is used this filter and logic will not be used corect if use with or separat %title% and %sep% bettwen still not good to have 10 images with same name on the page despicte the fact again this is issue with rank math not my theme … are you deny this?
Thank you.
P.S.
Belive me WordPress will display all character you will add into the Alt file … nothing to be converted there =))
Quote you: “WordPress is serving images with filenames converted.”
How? Or what do you mean by this, I’m curious. is just WordPress theme display alt images if are added into media file alt field, if rank math activate all this alt file already completed become waste … shame how rank math treat alt file, and I know is popular SEO plugin, but honestly no one notice this bad practice of alt images of rank math?
P.S. the file name not contain the special character like “ă î ș ț â” or () or : because are not allowed by WordPress anyway … now I see true colors of rank math staff.
