AggregateRating Schema - Support

Hi guys,

I am having great trouble finding out decent information about aggregateratings schema. Google are ultra-minimal with their documenting of it:

I have reviews for our site on Google, our Facebook page and also on our site. There seems to be no concensus on how to add these to your site, and one blogger even said that aggregateratings are no longer in use by Google (from 2018 – https://whitespark.ca/blog/how-to-use-aggregate-review-schema-to-get-stars-in-the-serps/). Is there a way of adding my reviews to the site through RankMath? Or do you guys have any clearer information you can give me regarding how to implement these to suit Google’s guidelines (if they are still being used that is!).

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Google recently withdrew support for self serving review schema such as the one on your site. The only schema types that can have ratings are the following:

– Book
– Course
– Event
– Product
– Recipe
– Software Application

If Google withdrew aggregaterating schema why does it still show up as a recommendation in the structured data testing tool?

They still have aggregaterating listed in their dev document info and examples which is bizarre if they aren’t supporting it anymore?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the follow up.

They really don’t make it easy. AggregateRatings and reviews rich snippets are only supported the following schema types as I mentioned earlier:

– Book
– Course
– Event
– Product
– Recipe
– Software Application

Google will not however not reward your site links with review rich snippets stars on the SERP if you have added self serving reviews eg reviewing your blog posts.
