    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

Could you confirm if this also happens only when Rank Math is enabled with a default WordPress theme and the Lightbox plugin?

You can follow this guide to test that:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

If yes, we might need to take a closer look. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

Since I disabled that feature, it is not a problem for me. I don’t want to use my live site as a troubleshooting center. If you cannot replicate the issue elsewhere, I may install Rank Math on my staging site and give you access to it.

Let me know if you want to pursue the issue.

I have created the same problem on my staging site:

    testbed.biz

You can view the post mentioned in the original ticket. This is a staging site, test the problem any way you like. Let me know when you are done, I can simply delete the site and reconstruct it.

Let me know when you are done testing.

    Hello,

Thank you for providing the login details.

I tried accessing your admin dashboard for your staging site but the login username/password doesn’t seem to be working. Can you please check so we can troubleshoot the issue?

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

Sorry about that. Try once more. I copied the password leaving its first and last characters out and typed them by hand just to make sure some invisible characters are not creeping in.

I tested and I can log in with those credentials.

    Hello,

I was able to access your dashboard. Upon further investigating here, when Rank Math’s “Add missing TITLE attributes” option is disabled, there’s no title set in your image as you can see in my screenshot here:

    image title

So it is only natural that Rank Math adds the MISSING TITLE in this image after you enable the “Add missing TITLE attributes” option and somehow, the lightbox plugin uses that title attribute to override the existing image caption you visibly see on the image.

Hope that helps you with your situation.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

I enter the Alt and Title fields same information. As you can see, in the media properties the Title field is filled. I am sending a screen capture that you can verify on the media screen. All the images in that series, actually most, if not all my images should have both fields filled.

I am not sure where else this information can be or should be entered.

And, when that option is disabled, the content from the Title field displays below the image.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing a screenshot of this.

If you disable Rank Math’s “Add missing TITLE attributes” there’s no title attribute in your image as shown in my screenshot in the previous reply. So the gallery block isn’t adding the title you entered from the media page in the first place.

There are two things you can do here:

    1. You may contact the plugin you use for the gallery block and ask them if you can forcibly use the title you entered from the media page in WordPress.

    Or,

    2. You can directly insert the desired Title in the advanced tab of your gallery block as shown in the screenshot below:

    Title

This should override Rank Math’s automatic insertion of the image title attribute.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

We seem to look at and look for different things. As I said originally and as you can see in the original screen captures, the title field contents are properly displayed by the gallery plugin, Jetpack. Therefore, it sees the title attribute WITHOUT requiring re-entering it elsewhere outside the media. Rank Math is searching for the title in the wrong places rather than looking at the media properties.

Whatever that may be, I reported, you looked at it, whether you fix it or not is your decision.

You may close this ticket. If I decide to stick with Rank Math, I will not use that option.

I forgot to add that the field you pointed at has a note under it. It says:

Describe the role of this image on the page. (Note: many devices and browsers do not display this text.)

And, if you simply look at that field, why does RM replace the Title content I entered in the media properties?

    Cemal Ekin

    Hello,

Please allow me to explain this in detail.

I understand that you are entering the title and alt text in the images, and the titles of the images are displayed in the frontend as the Caption of your images by the gallery block that you are using.

However, the gallery block that you are using is not rendering the title attribute in the img tag in the source code of your site.

So, there is no title attribute in the img tag of your images if you view the source code of your site.

Now, when you keep the Rank Math’s Add missing TITLE attributes feature enabled, it sees that the img tag in the source code of your site does not have a title attribute, so it adds a title attribute there, as per the standards.

Post that, as you have said that the gallery block displays the title of the image as the caption of image in the frontend of the site, the title that is being added by Rank Math (because there is no title attribute in the source code of your site) is converted to the Caption by your gallery block and is displayed on the frontend of your site.

This is the whole process that is happening.

The title attribute, in fact, is not being displayed by your gallery block. It is just displaying the Caption (which it takes from the title that you have set) in the frontend of your site.

Rank Math is searching for the title attribute in the source code of your site, which is actually the right way. Ideally, the title attribute should be added to the source code of the site, and the gallery block is not doing that, which is causing this issue.

The best way to resolve this is by contacting Jetpack, who creates the galley block, and asking them why the title attribute is not being displayed in the img tag in the source code of your site.

Hope this helps, and please do not hesitate to get in touch with us in case you need any further assistance.

    Thank you.

I think we are talking past each other. Why would I ask Rank Math, or any other plugin to fill in a field that may not even be displayed? As I said, your plugin, you develop any way you like. But to this user, it is minimally confusing, generally, wrong aimed and invisible field populating. I would be very surprised to hear that most, many, or even some of your users understand the meaning you attach to it.

No reply is necessary. As I said, if I decide to continue using Rank Math, the feature is of no use to me anyway.

    Cemal Ekin

    Hello,

Our plugin checks for the title and alt attributes in the frontend and adds them on the fly dynamically. You can disable the option if it doesn’t work with your content.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.
