Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the 429 response code. It can be frustrating when you’ve followed all the steps and are still encountering this error.
Since you’ve already disabled the automatic submission feature and reset your API key, here are a few additional steps you can take:
-
Clear Your Website Cache: Make sure to clear your website cache after making changes to ensure that the new settings take effect. You can follow this guide on how to clear cache in WordPress.
-
Wait a Bit Longer: Sometimes, it may take longer than expected for the changes to propagate. If you haven’t already, consider waiting a few hours before trying to submit URLs again.
-
Check for Other Sites on Shared Hosting: If you are on shared hosting, other sites on the same server might be using up the quota assigned to your shared IP address. This is a common issue that can lead to receiving 429 errors.
-
Contact Your Hosting Provider Again: Since your hosting provider mentioned it’s strange, it might be worth asking them if they can monitor the requests coming from your IP to see if there are any unusual patterns or if other sites are affecting your quota.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.
Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this for you soon!

How to Fix 429 Error with IndexNow API » Rank Math
From my hosting, someone is asking:
Are you able to confirm if the rate-limit is per IP, or per API key?
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
The 429 error indicates that too many websites sharing the same IP address are attempting to access the API.
Can you confirm if your site is hosted on a shared IP hosting? The 429 response comes from the IndexNow API and has nothing to do with our plugin. It is a common issue with websites hosted on shared hosting. You can confirm that by using the official plugin of Bing for IndexNow: https://wordpress.org/plugins/indexnow/
The official plugin will also return the same response code. There is nothing we can do from our end to fix this. Let us know if the official plugin works.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
