Hi there,
I had a question I hope you can help me
I have done some redirect 410 to a few URLs, outdated content with no possibility of 301 redirect
But I get a google search console coverage issue Submitted URL not found (404)
Why does it say 404 when I did a 410?
Do I have to report the 410 redirections to google, if yes, please let me know how?
Thanks in advance.
Jean Pierre

Hello,
I checked some of your URLs and they are returning a 403 as you can see in my screenshot here:
Kindly check this one with your hosting provider as this might be a Cloudflare issue.
Looking forward to helping you on this one.
and cloudflare support:
Hi,
Thank you for contacting Cloudflare Support. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing some difficulties.
the google search console is showing Submitted URL not found (404)
An HTTP 404 error is a client side error that means that the origin web server couldn’t find a requested file. Cloudflare does not generate 404 errors, so this would indicate something is not configured correctly at your hosting provider. It’s possible that a document root with your origin is pointed to the wrong host name or different working directory.
You should be able to find these errors 404 in the access logs of your origin web server.
The best next steps would be to work with your hosting provider to identify what potential misconfiguration could be in place that would cause the origin to look for a file where it doesn’t exist.
If you have any more questions, simply reply to this email and we will be happy to help.
Some crawlers show as 403. These are the redirected URLs.
If you’re seeing a 403 error without Cloudflare branding, this is always returned directly from the origin web server, not Cloudflare, and is generally related to permission rules on your server.
The top reasons for this error are:
Permission rules you have set or an error in the .htaccess rules you have set
Mod_security rules.
IP Deny rulesSince Cloudflare can not access your server directly, please contact your hosting provider for assistance with resolving 403 errors and fixing rules. You should make sure that Cloudflare’s IPs aren’t being blocked.
There are some instances where Cloudflare will serve a branded 403 error page. Please review the below knowledge base article and community tip on resolving 403 Errors:

Hello Jean Pierre Saona Gonzalo, my name is Steven S. Thanks for contacting us today!
Please give me a moment while I pull up your account.
ok thanks
Steven S.
Thank you for your patience. I would recommend taking a look here to get Google to consider re-crawling the site: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/google-tools/how-do-i-get-google-to-reconsider-crawling-my-site/However looking at those pages I don’t see the content listed. How long ago did you create these and add content to them?
These pages are outdated content and I have done a 410 redirect (delete content) but googles shows 404 error
plugin support told me that it has to be with the hosting provider, maybe blocking robots.txt T
Steven S.
You could try following their documentation here to remove them from being indexed by google: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/crawling/block-indexing
ok
but why 410 redirection is not working?
hosting is blocking robots.txt or sitemaps?
Steven S.
To my knowledge we do not block robots.txt or sitemaps.
Are you 100% sure?, asking because I want to be sure and look for solution
Steven S.
Yes, as we have documentation available for setting up robots.txt here:And documentation for sitemaps here:

Hello,
I tested the URLs again with https://httpstatus.io/ and now they’re returning 410 status.
Please clear your website’s cache and wait for Google to crawl the website again and see if the 404 issue is fixed.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
