I keep getting dev links in my 404 monitor even though i have changed the url via elementor tools and velvet url plugin i have also scanned the database for this. Is there a way to stop this? or find out the supposed page where the link exists. Or how i am supposed to redirect these – the dev folder/site does not exist so finding this a bit odd.
Thanks in advance team

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.
Since the URLs don’t exist on your site and they are not actual posts/pages URLs, you can redirect them to your homepage.
Please note we can only tell you about the 404s. We don’t know where they are coming from. You have to check that yourself.
Here’s how to fix the 404s with Rank Math.
https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hoping this helps you. Thank you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
do you understand the issue with this?
Hello,
How have you configured the redirections? Using Rank Math? Another plugin? The .htaccess file? Are you just having issues with that URL or with others too?
Looking forward to help you.

Hello,
You will need to create the redirections inside the dev site to the other site. Are you doing it there, I guess?
Looking forward to help you.
The dev site no longer exist and hasnt for a while
Hello,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
The URL https://dev.p***.com/presentation-folders seems to be redirected by WordPress to your live site domain https://p***.com/presentation-folders. This URL : https://dev.p***.com/123 is not redirected because the relative URL doesn’t exist even on your live site. You can trace your redirection path by using this tool: http://redirectcheck.com/index.php
Rank math redirections can only direct from the site installed site. To redirect the 404s on your site, just head to Rank math > 404 monitor and click on redirect for each of the URLs or bulk redirect by checking each of the 404 errors.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
have we got any further with this?
thats true the https://dev.p***.com/123 does not exist this was an example.
https://dev.p***.com/presentation-folders
doesnt redirect as it should to
https://p***.com/presentation-foldersat least its not for me and if that was the case i am getting these as 404 within rankmath
this is the issue i am having
can you check the https://dev.p***.com/presentation-folders is working for you and help if it is explain why it doesnt work for me
that site loads on the dev site when it shouldnt (url) this should by all accounts redirect to the domain with out dev!
Hello Chris,
You seem to have changed https://p***.com/presentation-folders to https://p***.com/presentation-folders-printed/. In this case WordPress automatic redirection is unlikely to detect this as it usually uses the slug to redirect URLs. You may have to use Ran math redirection module or htaccess rewrite rules for this.
Addingdev.
to your existing still loads fine, you can check the screencast I have added in the sensitive section.Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
Thank you for that yes I knew this. This is what I am trying to resolve. How do force the dev.domain to redirect to the domain only so this stops happening. Can this be done via rank math or not. If it’s htaccess what should I add
Hello,
With WordPress, the dev site URLs should be redirected automatically to their relative live site URLs if the dev site no longer exists. The issue with your URLs is that you have changed some post slugs making them to lead to 404.
I am sorry but I can’t think of a way you can automate the redirection in your current situation. The only way to do this with Rank math is to use the 404 monitor and redirect any URL logged to it’s relative URL in your live site.
Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.
Hi Michael thank you for your response. I will monitor this closely. the only solution that i had found to work was to re-establish the dev domain and create the redirects manually. The urls do not exist within the post/page contents etc i was hoping for a way within rank math to redirect the dev.domain/url to domain/url to save doing this. Do you mind if i keep this open for a while whilst i monitor it a bit more?
