Meanwhile, please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:

That will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.

Some of them look like attempts by bots to find hackable / hacked files. How would you recommend is best to handle this type of 404

I was able to access the image, please enable the Advanced Mode as suggested by my colleague to get further insight into the 404 errors.
Rank Math can only detect 404 errors and cannot determine the cause of the errors. If you suspect the errors are caused by a security threat you can use a security plugin like WordFence or Sucuri.
