Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.
Unfortunately, we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated or capture/display the IP addresses.
This feature is more of a security plugin.
Though we do report information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:
https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitor
However, I’ve added your vote to our internal suggestions lists. If your suggestions are something that we’re able to introduce, we will let you know. You can also keep an eye on our changelog here:

I hope that helps.
Thank you, and please donβt hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.
Hi Reinelle,
Thank you!
Yes, it would be extremely valuable to add an “IP Address” column to your 404 Monitor module (i.e., table).
Looking forward to it.
Cheers!

Hello,
I was going through your other tickets and noticed this one and thought to add some additional information.
We cannot record or track IPs. Right now, Rank Math is 100% GDPR compliant because we do not track or log any visitor information. Recording the IP would put us in an awkward position where we would need to show a cookie notice to visitors before they can use your website. That is something we do not plan on doing and don’t see ourselves adding the feature to track the IPs anytime soon.
Thank you.
Hey Uzair,
Appreciate your input. It’s your plugin, so yes, the final decision is yours.
Useful Information:
(1) There are many plugins that track IPs. Examples: SG Security, iThemes Security, and many others. They use “cookie-free” technology. Worth exploring.
(2) Per GDPR, each website owner is required to produce and publish both a Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy detailing what type of information is captured by the website and how to block or dispose it.
Scenario: Let’s say your plugin starts capturing IPs. Well, each website using your plugin would then have to add your plugin’s information to their Cookie and Privacy policies. It’s that simple.
So, in short, it’s acceptable (per GDPR) to add an IP column to your 404 table π
Your call.
Again, thank you. Team Rank Math rocks!
Adding to the list of plugins that track IPs: Gravity Forms π
Cheers!
