The only things I have been doing on the site are related to this plugin. I changed some settings, i.e. the redirect all 404s to homepage because that was what was triggering the soft 404s. However, after this, I only started to add redirects. There is nothing else that was done with any other plugin. Do you have any known conflicts?

We do not have any known conflict with the 404 Monitor or Rank Math Redirections. Kindly make sure you are using the latest version of all the plugins and themes, please update if not yet.

Thank you. I will give it a try. My site is generating random 404s and no one knows why. The server seems to be fine. This is very strange.
Can you please let me know what will happen if I choose to clear the logs? Will all of the 404s get erased or only those that have not been redirected/ignored, etc.? If it indiscriminately removes everything in the list, this is unacceptable. There should be a way to clear the log automatically if a redirect has been applied. It works that way for other redirection plugins.

You should activate the Advanced mode in the 404 monitor which let you capture a lot more details about your 404 errors.

If you are seeing random 404s that you are sure are incorrect, it is likely that they are generated by spammers and bots. You can safely ignore them, as they don’t affect your site’s performance or ranking.
However, please note that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can try to fix these errors by following this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/
To block out access to bots, you can use a service like Cloudflare (https://www.cloudflare.com/). Cloudflare is a web security and performance service that can protect your site from malicious bots and attacks.
Clearing the error log will delete all the 404 errors ever recorded. Once the log is cleared, only the errors that are recorded after the clear will be displayed, and there is no way to get the lost data back.
