Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.
Deleting the 404 error from the 404 monitor will only delete the log and not delete the links from your website. I would suggest that you either head over to the page containing the URL and fix it or you could create some redirects so as not to affect your ranking.
I would suggest that you take a look at the following page to learn about how to fix the 404 errors and the options that are available: https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/
I hope this info helps. Thank you.
Thanks for the relay about the log part it will only delete that part of it then could you provide me some information about how to actually fully delete the 404 errors it finds then? I reasd the information you provided but I could not find where it stated how to delete this actual part
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
One of the ways to actually prevent the error from happening would be to edit your sitemap and remove the link to the page that is causing the error. This would then prevent Google from crawling this page.
The most ideal method to fix this would be to go to source page and fix the link so that it returns the correct URL or you could restore the page / file that the 404 is pointing to so that Google can find it.
I hope this info helps. Thank you.
