Hello,
Thank you for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
First, do make sure that those 404 pages are redirected to a working page. As I can see there’s only 12 URLs only, so doing the redirect is the best option. After that Googlebot has to crawl the page/s to know they are being redirected. Google has different crawling schedules on a page by page basis. Could be a day to weeks, and/or several months before a natural re-crawl of any specific page or manually submit the links to Google search console to be removed.
Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thank you.
Thanks for your quick reply.
Can I redirect all those pages to homepage with ‘ALL 404 Redirect To Homepage’ plugin? Also in redirection, what type of redirection should I use like 301, 302?
Can you kindly tell me how those URLs are getting generated cause I didn’t generate them? Also new and new URLs are getting generated over time. My site is new. I got those 12 URLs in just 18 days. I can’t understand the matter.
Looking forward to your reply.
Hello,
Yes, you can redirect them to homepage. You can do 301 redirect to those URLs. If you’re using another plugin, please make sure you’ve deactivated the Redirection module of Rank Math by navigating to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard.
404 can be generated by number of reason. The URL in the search console points out something to do with Permalinks or post is deleted. I would suggest please look into the backend and check did you made any recent changes in the permalink or pages.
Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thank you.
Thanks for your blazing fast reply.
Can you kindly tell me what redirection code should I use 301, 302 or 307?
I didn’t change the permalink and I also didn’t delete or change URL of any page. The 404 URLs appeared automatically. Is there any other possible reason?
Hello,
Since you’re no longer using those URLs, you can set them as 301 (permanent) redirect.
You can click the 404 URLs in your GSC to check for the referrs. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Thanks for your great help.
