4.5 Million Internal Links

    Hi, in Google Search Console I see there are 4.5 million internal links listed. There should be something like 100,000 at most. What could be causing that?

    Thank you for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    First, I would look in the ‘Coverage’ report to get a better idea of what pages are indexed. The links also includes may also includes old links as well as i.e. deleted posts / pages links are still available in the list.

    Could be all sorts of reasons for high number of links. Typically it’s sign of canonicalization issues.
