301 Redirection From Old Domain Name To New Domain Name

    Hi,

I recently moved from squarespace to wordpress and changed my domain name from thewellessentials.com to thewellco.co

I submitted a redirect with my domain host godaddy to have my old domain name thewellessentials.com redirect to the new thewellco.co site, which is currently working. Outside of that one url though, none of the other sub-urls are redirecting from my old domain name. I want to limit loss of web traffic so I was going to manually create 301 redirects for 200 urls that make up about 95% of my google analytics reported web traffic and input them in rankmath which I use on my new thewellco.co wordpress site.

Before I start this I just want to ensure that I am doing this correctly as the few I have submitted and tested don’t appear to be working. I’m not sure if there is some lag time for how long the redirection takes to work, but I submitted them about an hour ago and haven’t seen any change.

I recorded a loom video to show what I am seeing and describe what I need to do a little further https://www.loom.com/share/4cb9382963e244689d25f7be243e9940

    Thank you!

    Megan

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

To redirect a URL, you will have to create the redirection on the site where the actual URL exists. I can check that you are creating the redirection on the site with the destination URL. Also, you should only add the part after the domain name in the source URL as our plugin automatically adds the site URL to that.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.
