Hello,
I apologize for the issue you are facing with your URLs. It seems like your pages are being published with a “-2” suffix even though there are no existing pages with the same URL without the suffix.
To address this issue, you can follow these steps to resolve it:
-
Check Permalink Settings: Ensure that there are no conflicting slugs in your WordPress permalink settings. You can navigate to Settings > Permalinks and check if there are any custom structures causing conflicts.
-
Check Rank Math Redirections: Verify if there are any redirection rules set up in Rank Math that might be causing this issue. You can review and edit the redirections in Rank Math by going to Rank Math > Redirections in your WordPress admin dashboard.
-
Create a 301 Redirect: If the issue persists, you can create a 301 redirect from the incorrect URL to the correct one using Rank Math. This will help ensure that traffic going to the incorrect URL is redirected to the correct version. You can follow the steps outlined in this guide to create a 301 redirect.
If the problem persists after following these steps, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

How to Fix “Duplicate, Google Chose Different Canonical than User” » Rank MathHello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for the unexpected delays and any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
A possible cause of the issue is that you have an attachment with the same name or permalink you are trying to get in your posts.
You can check that on your Media page in your WordPress Dashboard.
Once you located the image/attachment with the same permalink or handle, you’ll have to change it to something else so you can freely change the post’s permalink as intended.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your message and no problem at all. What would I be looking for exactly please?
I have this:
Keynote-Speaker-The-Maldives.jpg
and alt tag is
Keynote Speaker The Maldivesand I wanting inspiredaudience.com/keynote-speaker-maldives
This shouldn’t cause the conflict should it??
sorry that would be keynote-speaker-the-maldives
the link to that is https://inspiredaudiences.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Keynote-Speaker-The-Maldives.jpg
so very different to the raw permalink
update: I have just changed it to Keynote-Speaker-in-The-Maldives.jpg
(so added in) but it it is still defaulting to -2)
any update please?
Hello,
Apologies for the delay as we prioritize older tickets, and whenever you post a reply here, your ticket is getting bumped to the top.
The URL you initially shared is https://inspiredaudiences.com/keynote-speaker-miami, so the image you may need to check is something like this:
https://inspiredaudiences.com/wp-content/uploads/keynote-speaker-miami.jpgYou can use the search bar in your media gallery to search these keywords: keynote-speaker-miami
Let us know how this goes.
Thanks for your message – the link you shared of the photo comes back with 404 not found?
Hello,
The
https://www.magicduncan.co.uk/magician-nottingham
doesn’t exactly match the attachment URL and that’s why it is creating issues.Regarding the
https://inspiredaudiences.com/keynote-speaker-new-york-2
URL, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section. Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
Hello,
In that case, we might need to check this closely in your WordPress admin dashboard. Please share the URLs that are working without any issues and the URL that has the issue here.
Then, share your website’s WordPress admin login here as instructed earlier.
Looking forward to helping you.
every time I reply my reply gets deleted?
Hello,
Please check the attachment page of that image instead and see if it doesn’t match the permalink of the post. Here’s an example screenshot for your reference:
Looking forward to helping you.
The example you gave of course is different. The one I gave has an identical url in both places?
Hello,
When WordPress adds
-2
at the end of the slug, it means that the slug already exists in the database. It could be from a deleted post that is still in the database or an attachment page. We can’t determine the exact cause of this without taking a closer look. If you want us to check this further, please share your site login details in the sensitive data section. If you’re not comfortable sharing the login details, check the postmeta table of your database for the duplicate slug and remove it to fix the issue. If you are not sure how to do that, you can hire a professional or check with your hosting provider.
Looking forward to helping you.
