Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Where is that issue happening to you? Since recently we removed the possibility to add more than 1 focus keyword in categories since we only did tests for the main keyword so there was no point to have the possibility to add more keywords since they won’t be tested.
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
Ok ! I was not aware of that.
Looks like thats the case.
I was trying to add 2 keywords for ‘Custom Taxonomy Term’. I guess they are treated as Categories and so you removed the capability add more than 1 keyword. Right ?
Not sure about Technical Reasons. But personally I feel there should be allowance for at least 2 keywords even for Categories / Taxonomy Terms.
I remember it was there earlier. Not sure why the feature is removed.
Hello,
Yes, custom terms act like categories. Yes, it was added in the past but since even then we haven’t any tests for secondary keywords, it was removed.
Not being able to add more than 1 keyword doesn’t mean Google won’t rank it for several keywords, it just means we only have tests for one of them. Anyway, I will send your suggestion to the devs to see what can they do in a future update.
Looking forward to help you.
Hey Alberto,
since the last update and the change with only one focus keyword for categories, I can notice a decrease in traffic and rankings. In my case categories are Shopsites and the most important landingpages of my website couponari. Do you think there are any opportunties to implement the function to set up more than one focus keyword for categories in the future again? Or do you know if there are already plans for a change back to 5 keywords? That would helps a lot for my business.
Many thanks,
Christopher
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Hello Christopher,
since the last update and the change with only one focus keyword for categories
This was done on purpose. On archives, we only have an option to add one focus keyword because having multiple keyword options there was not optimal.
On your posts, pages, and CPTs – you can continue to use unlimited focus keywords as before.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
