    Hello,
Google search console is able to index the category sitemap, but not the post-sitemap.

I have checked everything on Server and also the settings, but can’t find an error. Now I have no idea anymore what to do. Would you help please.

    Thank you

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the post sitemap not being indexed by Google Search Console. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check for Content: Ensure that there is content on your posts. If there are no posts or if they are set to noindex, the sitemap will not contain any URLs.

    2. Sitemap Settings: Go to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings and ensure that the post types are not blocked from appearing in the sitemap. Make sure that the option for posts is enabled.

    3. Flush Permalinks: Sometimes, flushing permalinks can resolve issues with sitemaps. Navigate to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress admin area and click the “Save Changes” button without making any changes.
      Flush permalink settings

    4. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Use the Health Check plugin to check if there is a conflict with another plugin that might be affecting the sitemap functionality.

    5. Robots.txt File: Ensure that your robots.txt file is not blocking the post sitemap. You can check this in Rank Math SEO → General Settings → robots.txt.

    6. Custom Canonicals: If you have set custom canonical URLs for your posts, they may not appear in the sitemap. Consider removing those custom canonicals to allow Rank Math to generate them automatically.

If you have checked all these points and the issue persists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can assist you further. A human agent will take over and provide more specific help.

Thank you for raising this concern!

Also your robots.txt check says everything is ok.

    Hello,

It seems that you are inspecting your sitemap URL, that’s why you are getting the noindex in header error.

Please note that RankMath sets the “noindex” tag on your sitemaps by default. It’s done this way because a sitemap is only meant to guide search engines through your site, not to rank in search results.

The reason you’re seeing it set to “noindex” is to prevent it from appearing in search results, which is the desired behavior.

You should follow this guide to properly submit your sitemap:

    Looking forward to helping you.

This is nonsense. Of course I did all those steps as I am using Rankmath already for some years. It seems like that there is a grave bug, as so many users are complaining about the same issue.
By waiting of an answer from you I asked of course my hoster and they told me that everything is ok from server.

You know, you should be clear to users and not treat them that way. In every way errors can happen, I do understand that. If you would have a clear communication about it, we could find an alternative instead of loosing time and energy. I deactivated now the sitemap at Rankmath on 2 websites and see in this moment that a third one is decreasing indexed sites for no reason. Not good, be clear please.

    Hello,

We understand your concern about the sitemap being set as ‘noindex’, but we assure you that this is how it should be.

The reason is that we don’t want Google to index the sitemap itself, we only want them to index the pages and posts that are listed on the sitemap. The sitemap is just a way to tell Google what pages and posts you have on your website, not a page that you want to show up in search results.

The important thing is that your pages and posts are set to ‘index’, which means that they are eligible to appear in Google search results.

You can check this by looking at the Rank Math settings on each page or post, or by using the Google URL Inspection tool.

To make sure that Google knows about your sitemap and can crawl your pages and posts, you need to submit your sitemap to Google Search Console.

This is a simple process that you can follow by using our tutorial: https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

Don’t hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
