not able to save the focus Keyword for category pages.

When I save the SEO-related changes in Rank Math SEO boxes, and try to save the changes, it blanks out my focus keyword and saves. It works fine if I change this on the post and page. Not sure why it only happens for the category page.

I have ruled out plugin conflict and JavaScript conflict. Because if that were the case, I would have issues with all kinds of pages.

    Please advise.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with saving the focus keyword for category pages. It seems like you’ve already ruled out plugin and JavaScript conflicts, which is a great step.

In general, when it comes to category pages, Rank Math allows only one focus keyword to be set. If you’re trying to save more than one keyword, it may not save correctly. However, if you’re only trying to save one keyword and it’s still not working, there could be other factors at play.

Here are a few things you can check:

    1. Firewall Settings: Ensure that your firewall is not blocking any Rank Math files. If it is, you may need to whitelist Rank Math and its files. Check for blocked access to the following files:

      • /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta
      • /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateSchemas
      • /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateRedirection
      • /wp-json/rankmath/v1/getFeaturedImageId
      • /wp-json/rankmath/v1/getHead
    2. Browser Cache: Sometimes, browser cache can cause issues. Try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser to see if the problem persists.

    3. Theme Conflicts: While you mentioned ruling out plugin conflicts, sometimes themes can also cause issues. If possible, switch to a default WordPress theme temporarily to see if the issue resolves.

If none of these solutions work, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention!

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I am pretty sure the firewall is not the issue; it seems to save meta and other Rank Math folders fine for other pages. So the firewall should not be the issue.

Also, I tested on other browsers, and the problem persists, so cache is not an issue either.

How can I switch to the default WP theme? Would that cause the whole website to change? Since the issue is only for category pages? Would that not say that it is not an issue with category page SEO settings?

Because if themes were conflicting, they would show up everywhere?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
