Using a comma with focus keyword?

#977786
  • Hello, is it okay to use a comma in a focus keyword when optimizing my post?

As a general rule, I avoid any punctuation in keywords, but sometimes it just doesn’t feel or look natural. For instance, when writing a city and state and never separating the city and state with a comma.

  • Hello, we apologize for the issue you’re facing. When it comes to focus keywords in Rank Math, it’s generally recommended to avoid using punctuation, including commas. This is because search engines typically treat keywords as phrases without punctuation, and including them may affect how your content is indexed and ranked.

If you feel that a comma makes your keyword more natural, you might want to consider rephrasing the keyword to eliminate the need for punctuation. For example, instead of "City, State," you could use "City State" or simply "CityState" if that fits your content better.

Thank you for raising this concern! If you have further questions or need assistance with specific keywords, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.
