    Hello,

I have a problem with the sitemap generated by RankMah
    https://guideyourtrip.com/sitemap_index.xml

First problem: On Google Search Console I see that the last reading is from Last reading
    01/20/2025
However, there have been many new pages created since that date.

Second problem: I have 3 sub-sitemaps with the error
    Unable to read the sitemap

    https://guideyourtrip.com/guides-sitemap4.xml
    https://guideyourtrip.com/guides-sitemap5.xml
    https://guideyourtrip.com/guides-sitemap6.xml

I have tried several solutions without success.

    1- Check WordPress permalinks

Go to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard.
Click Save changes without changing anything.

2- Regenerate the sitemap with Rank Math

Go to Rank Math → Sitemap Settings.
Disable the sitemap, save, and then re-enable it.
Visit the main sitemap URL to verify correct generation.

3- Resubmit the sitemap to Google Search Console

    Delete old sitemaps with errors.
    Submit only the main sitemap:

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you are facing with the sitemap generated by Rank Math. Thank you for providing detailed information about the problems.

    Addressing Your Issues:

    1. Last Reading Date in Google Search Console:

      • If Google Search Console shows an outdated last reading date, it may indicate that Google is unable to fetch your sitemap correctly. This can happen if there are errors in the sitemap or if it is not accessible.
    2. Unable to Read Sub-Sitemaps:

      • For the sub-sitemaps that are returning errors, we recommend validating your sitemap using the Validate XML Sitemap tool. This will help identify any issues with the sitemap structure.
      • Ensure that your sub-sitemaps are correctly located in the root folder of your WordPress installation and that they are accessible via their URLs.
      • You can also check the status code of your sitemaps using the httpstatus tool to ensure they return a 200 status code.

    Additional Steps to Consider:

    • Flush Cache: Make sure to clear any caching plugins you might be using, as they can interfere with the sitemap functionality. You can refer to our guide on clearing cache in WordPress.
    • Check Robots.txt: Ensure that your robots.txt file is not blocking access to your sitemaps. You can check this in Rank Math SEO → General Settings → robots.txt.
    • Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any potential conflicts.

If you have tried these solutions and are still experiencing issues, please reply to this ticket with any error messages you see when accessing the sub-sitemaps or any other relevant details. A human agent from our support team will take over and assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

    1. It looks like Google hasn’t recrawled your sitemap since 20th of January. Please try the following:

    Please follow the steps below:

    a. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    b. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    c. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    d. Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and re-submit only the primary sitemap which is https://guideyourtrip.com/sitemap_index.xml.

    2. Your guides-sitemap*.xml sitemaps are loading just fine so after following the steps we shared in #1, please observe if these sitemaps are read by Google.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks for your help
    Now I try this step
    d. Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and re-submit only the primary sitemap which is https://guideyourtrip.com/sitemap_index.xml.
I try to remove one by one all my sub sitemap0.
I have no error but the sub sitemaps are not deleted

May I have to remove the primary sitemap and re-submit ?

    Hello,

Yes, you can remove your primary sitemap including all the sub-sitemaps and resubmit only /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.

If the issue persists, you can submit /?sitemap=1 and see if that works for you.
