I’ve updated the favicon on a few websites, but it’s not changing. I’ve tried clearing the cache, re-indexing in Google Search Console, and flushing browser cache, but it still won’t update on some sites. Any idea why this might be happening?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your favicon not updating on some of your websites. It can be frustrating when changes don’t reflect as expected.

Here are a few reasons why your favicon might not be updating:

    1. Caching Issues: Even after clearing your site and browser cache, there might be server-level caching or CDN caching that could be causing the old favicon to persist. Make sure to clear any server-side caches as well.

    2. Google’s Favicon Crawler: Google’s favicon crawler may take some time to update the favicon in search results. It’s not uncommon for it to take a while before the new favicon appears.

    3. Theme Settings: If you are using a specific theme, ensure that the favicon is set correctly in the theme settings. Sometimes, themes have their own settings for favicons that need to be updated separately.

    4. Favicon Format and Size: Ensure that the favicon image meets the recommended size and format guidelines. A common size is 16×16 pixels or 32×32 pixels, and it should be in .ico, .png, or .gif format.

If you continue to experience issues, we recommend replying to this ticket with any additional details or screenshots of your settings, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!
