Please answer two questions.
Is it okay to disable the writer? What are the issues you experience when you disable it?

Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing regarding the author URL error.

Is it okay to disable the writer?
Disabling the author feature is generally acceptable if you do not require author information to be displayed on your posts. However, it is important to consider that this may affect how your content is perceived in terms of authority and credibility, especially if your site relies on author expertise or personal branding. -
What are the issues you experience when you disable it?
When you disable the author feature, you may encounter several issues:- Loss of Author Information: Readers will not see who wrote the content, which can reduce trust and engagement.
- SEO Impact: Search engines may use author information as a ranking factor, and disabling it could potentially impact your site’s SEO performance.
- E-E-A-T Concerns: It may affect your site’s E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) score, which is important for ranking in search results.
If you are experiencing specific technical issues related to this, please reply to this ticket with more details, including your site URL, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

Then the author url is constantly causing a 404 error. I want to get rid of that error.
Hello,
Enabling or disabling the author archives fully depends on your website setup. For single-author blogs, you can keep author archives disabled as it just leads to duplicate content.
But if you’ve multiple authors and have a plan to add new authors later, you can keep Author Archives enabled. When you keep this Author archives disabled, Rank Math automatically redirects your author pages to your homepage but doesn’t return a 404 error.
To fix the 404 errors, you can follow this guide to fix them on your website: https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/
Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.duplicate content.?????
What are the overlapping content phenomena and what are the bad outcomes?
Redirecting those many 404 errors to the main home has any disadvantages or negative effects?
Hello,
Duplicate content occurs when multiple pages have identical or very similar content, which can confuse search engines and dilute rankings. If your author archive and main content pages are the same, search engines may struggle to determine which to prioritize.
Redirecting 404s to the homepage in bulk isn’t ideal, as it can make it harder for search engines to understand missing content. A better approach is to redirect to relevant pages or simply just leave it as a 404 page to inform search engines that the content is no longer available on your website.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.
