Have Tried Everything But Unable to Get Site Name Displayed in Google SERP

    Hi,

I have been using Rank Math since about November and have tried everything in the attached link (https://rankmath.com/kb/display-site-name-in-search-results/) to get my Site Name displaying in Google SERP instead of the URL. Unfortunately, even after a few months, it still is only showing the URL. All other Snippet and meta changes I’ve made show up in SERP, only the Site Name remains an issue.

Is there anything else I can do? Is there anything on my site causing a conflict that’s causing the issue? Is there any way to check this?

    My site is https://jmkaudition.com

Any additional help that’s not in that guide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    John Keating

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your site name not displaying in Google SERP. It can be frustrating when changes do not reflect as expected.

Since you’ve already followed the guide on how to display your site name in search results, here are a few additional steps you can consider:

    1. Check Structured Data: Ensure that your structured data is correctly implemented. You can use the Rich Results Test to check if there are any errors or warnings related to your structured data.

    2. Google Search Console: If you haven’t already, submit your homepage URL for reindexing in Google Search Console. This can help speed up the process of Google recognizing the changes you’ve made. You can do this by navigating to the URL Inspection Tool and clicking on Request Indexing.
      Click Request Indexing

    3. Check for Conflicting Plugins: Sometimes, other plugins can interfere with how Rank Math functions. Try disabling other SEO-related plugins temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

    4. Wait for Google to Update: Keep in mind that it may take some time for Google to reflect changes in SERP, even after reindexing. It can take weeks or even months for updates to be fully recognized.

    5. Review Site Name Consistency: Ensure that your site name is consistent across all areas where Google checks for it, including the homepage title tag, H1 header, Open Graph metadata, and structured data.

If you’ve tried all these steps and are still experiencing issues, we recommend replying to this ticket so a human agent from the Rank Math Support team can assist you further. They may be able to provide more specific insights into your site’s configuration.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please note that there are various sources that Google uses to define your site name on SERPs including:

    • og:site_name meta tag
    • WebSite structured data
    • Content in title elements
    • Heading elements

Among them, Rank Math automatically includes the og:site_name meta tag and the WebSite Schema on your website, and the rest you’ll have to include manually. You can also check the Google documentation on site-name: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/site-names

However, as is mentioned in the documentation, this process is automated by the algorithm and even though it takes into account the information on the website, it is still not guaranteed that your site name will come up correctly in Google SERPs since it’s solely decided by Google what they found relevant and user-friendly and which one they want to show.

Since the site name is already set on your website, we can only suggest you allow Google some time to recrawl and see if that updates the site name on SERPs.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi,

Unfortunately your reply wasn’t much help. I’ve done everything stated and it’s been about four months and the URL is still showing instead of the Site Name.

Is there any way to check if Rank Math is conflicting with another plugin or with Google itself? This seems to be a pretty widespread issue. Removing plugins and seeing what happens isn’t really a fix option if I have to wait months for each plugin.

    Thanks,
    John

    Hello,

Please note that it is not a technical issue. If you check the source code of your page, you’ll see Rank Math has properly added the site name meta tag and schema:

If you want, you can follow this troubleshooting guide and see if that works for you: https://www.gsqi.com/marketing-blog/site-name-problems-google-search/
