Hello,
First of all thank you for your hard work on building this plugin, it is quite an achievement, bravo !
Now, to get to the issue I’m facing and it seems that another person was reporting : > Having exactly the same issue as https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/wrong-canonicalization-multilanguages-site/
To resume, if someone has installed Polylang Pro and chosen the option:
“The front page url contains the language code instead of the page name or page id”
– means that for example you have a 2nd language and the homepage will be :
domain.com in the first language
And the second language configured as
domain.com/fr/
and not
domain.com/fr/homepage-slug/The homepage in the second language will have the canonical set on the main domain without the /fr/ (language)
The current workaround(and the easiest) is to go to RankMath’s settings and set the custom canonical url to the exact link of page, as in this example domain.com/fr/
Second workaround is to disable that option from Polylang Pro and go with the domain.com/fr/homepage-slug/ instead of domain.com/fr/ – but it’s not that nice to look at 🙂
I thought that it will happen also with pages that have the same slug but in different languages but it seems that it’s working for that case.
I have tried to speak with Polylang but they are saying is from your side, and it seems that there’s an issue with the communication between your teams, hopefully you’ll be able to figure out a solution and maybe even find an agreement so that us the users will be able to use both plugins without struggling to figure out workarounds.
Thank you again for your work and help.
Wish you all the best.
