Hello, I have a very important question that I could not find the answer to anywhere

I have a site where the permalink of my site is like this:

    https://nevisandeh.net/@nevisandeh/1566/what-is-a-blog/

The question is, why does the site come up again when I delete the last slug for the post?
    It means like this:

    https://nevisandeh.net/@nevisandeh/1566

    It shows the post again

I checked in Inspect, it says the same link in both, but again, since both are displayed, I wanted to know if it might have a negative effect on SEO and be considered a duplicate article?

but i cant see canonical tag in posts, Shouldn’t every page have a canonical tag on it?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing regarding your WordPress slugs and SEO. It seems that when you access the URL without the last slug, it still displays the same post, which can indeed lead to concerns about duplicate content.

    Why This Happens:

The behavior you’re experiencing could be due to how your permalink structure is set up. In WordPress, if a post can be accessed through multiple URLs, it can create duplicate content issues. This is because search engines may see both URLs as separate pages with the same content, which can negatively impact your SEO.

    Canonical Tags:

You mentioned not seeing a canonical tag in your posts. Canonical tags are important as they help search engines understand which version of a page should be considered the original or primary one. If your posts do not have canonical tags, search engines might struggle to determine which URL to index, further complicating your SEO efforts.

    Recommendations:

    1. Check Permalink Settings: Ensure that your permalink settings are optimized for SEO. You can adjust these in your WordPress dashboard under Settings → Permalinks.
    2. Add Canonical Tags: If you’re using Rank Math, it should automatically add canonical tags to your posts. If they are missing, you may want to check your Rank Math settings or ensure that the plugin is functioning correctly.
    3. Redirects: Consider setting up 301 redirects from the shorter URL to the full post URL to avoid duplicate content issues.

For more detailed information on slugs and permalinks, you can refer to our articles on WordPress Slugs and Permalink Structure.

    Hello,

We can see the /@nevisandeh/1566/what-is-a-blog/ URL is getting redirected to the /@nevisandeh/what-is-a-blog/ URL by WordPress:

However, the /@nevisandeh/1566 URL is currently returning a 404 error. Please note that Rank Math doesn’t handle the permalink structure of your website. In this case, you can use any external plugin like Permalink Manager to see if that works for you.

Regarding the canonical URL, we can see your website is currently set to Noindex and Nofollow.

Please note that our plugin adds the canonical URL when the pages are set to index. There is no use of the canonical tag on the Noindexed page because Google isn’t going to index the page.

The canonical URL will be automatically added to your website once you set this to index.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

    excuse me
This was my mistake, I had to change the permalink
    Can you check again now?

    Hello,

The issue occurs because the site is likely configured to serve the same post when accessing either the full permalink or the truncated version. This can create duplicate content concerns.

To fix this, you can set the canonical path pointing to the desired URL format. However, we can’t check that because those pages are still set to noindex.

If you want us to check this further, you can share your website’s admin login here with us.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    I sent you the access
Because the status of the links has not yet been determined, the site is not indexed, so please do not index it
We can’t use canonical for every link one by one
We have another site that has exactly the same problem and it has a lot of links. Can you give us a code that will canonicalize all the pages according to their main link?
And the next thing is that in the link that does not have a name, in the content inspect, it displays a long link. Did you check this?

    did you see that?

    Hello,

Unfortunately, we aren’t able to access your WP dashboard because we are blocked by your website.

If you are using geo-blocking, please temporarily unblock the country Portugal, India, Nigeria, Bangladesh and the Philippines so we can further inspect your website.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    hello
Nothing from the site caused this issue, it might be from the server side
Please check again with new link
    i edited the previous address

The first link in the previous message was wrong, the correct link is:
    https://fararasane.com/life-style/nutrition-facts/مهم-ترین-فواید-مصرف-موز/5449/

    Hello,

It seems like WordPress’ default behavior to load the page even when you remove the post ID from the URL. However, our plugin is adding the correct canonical URL that includes ID so the search engines will not index the URLs without the post IDs.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
