Keep getting errors after almost a month

I’ve had Rank Math installed for almost a month and I’m still getting errors in my Google Search Console. I’m getting “No referring sitemaps detected” but that’s not accurate. I’m not quite sure what’s going on.

I had 5 pages that were indexed in the first 5 days or so, but the remaining pages never got indexed and then eventually fell off the overview entirely.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you are facing with your Google Search Console and the indexing of your pages. It sounds frustrating to have errors persist for such a long time.

The "No referring sitemaps detected" error typically indicates that Google is unable to find a sitemap that points to your pages. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Your Sitemap: Ensure that your sitemap is correctly generated and submitted to Google Search Console. You can find your sitemap URL by going to https://rankmath.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Validating-error-fixes-in-GSC.png (replaceyourdomain.com` with your actual domain).

    2. Submit Your Sitemap: If you haven’t already, submit your sitemap in Google Search Console under the Sitemaps section. This will help Google discover all the pages on your site.
      Submit Sitemap in GSC

    3. Validate Your Sitemap: After submitting, check for any errors in the sitemap section of Google Search Console. If there are issues, resolve them and resubmit.

    4. Check for Indexing Issues: For the pages that are not indexed, check if they are marked as "Crawled – currently not indexed" or "Discovered – currently not indexed" in Google Search Console. You can follow the steps outlined in our guides to address these specific issues:

    5. Internal Linking: Ensure that you have internal links pointing to the pages that are not indexed. This can help Google discover and crawl those pages more effectively.

    6. Content Quality: Make sure that the content on your pages is unique, valuable, and not thin or duplicate content, as this can affect indexing.

After making these adjustments, give it some time and monitor the status in Google Search Console. If the issues persist, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

Hi. I’ve gone through all of those steps over the last few weeks. Nothing seems to be working. I’m quite stumped and wonder if it’s worth trying a new plugin that generates an entirely new Sitemap. Google sees all 23 of my pages, but won’t do anything with them.

    Hello,

In this case, you should check your Google Search Console > Indexing > Pages section to determine any issues reported on your URLs that may have prevented your site from being indexed:

To better understand the status reported, you may refer to our guide here:
