Not able to edit Meta Title & Description

    Hi, I’ve installed RankMath instead of Yoast and I’m really happy. But there is one big bug which I can’t sort out. I am not able to edit Meta Title & Description on any of my pages. Is there a way to clean the Rank Math internal DB on my WordPress site like there is in Yoast? Can you help me out here?

    We apologize for the issue you are facing with editing the Meta Title and Description in Rank Math. To edit the Meta Title and Description, you can follow these steps:

    1. Edit a Post/Page: Go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the post or page you want to edit.

    2. Rank Math Meta Box: Scroll down to find the Rank Math meta box below the content editor. Here, you should see fields for the SEO Title and Description.

    3. Gutenberg Editor: If you are using the Gutenberg editor, you can find the Rank Math settings in the sidebar on the right.

    If you are still unable to edit these fields, it might be due to a conflict with another plugin or theme. Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct option in Rank Math to clean the internal database like in Yoast. However, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    • Disable Other Plugins: Temporarily disable other plugins to see if there is a conflict.
    • Switch Themes: Try switching to a default WordPress theme to check if your current theme is causing the issue.
    • Check User Permissions: Ensure that your user role has permission to edit SEO settings.

    Hi there
    We’ve tested several things and there are no conflicts with the theme or any plugin. Further, we tried to write directly into the DB and changed there the meta description for a specific site successfully. So it looks like, that the RankMath Plugin is not able to write into the Database.

    Any other ideas from your side?

    Hello,

    If you visit the path below (change the domain with your website domain), you should see in live that Wordfence is currently blocking the API route:

    https://EXAMPLE.COM/wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta

    See the screenshot in the sensitive data section.

    In this case, please contact the support folks from Wordfence to get this sorted out or you may follow this guide.

    We’ve cleaned the DB again after the deinstallation of Wordfence to make sure, nothing is left. Now it works as expected.
