The errors is only for post sitemaps, not for categories or portfolio. I just can’t figure out where the problem is.
Hello,
From your screenshot, there are post-sitemap5.xml, but your sitemap index is up to 4 only.
In this case, please remove all your submitted sitemaps and resubmit your main sitemap only /sitemap_index.xml
Once done, give Google some time to recrawl your site.
Looking forward to helping you.
I have already done as you say, I also excluded the sitemap from the cache. I always send the file /sitemap_index.xml but if I enter the sitemap details on search console there is always an error. for example this morning it sends me this:
post-sitemap3.xml 10 dic 2024 1 error 200 0
And the error is :
Unable to read Sitemap
General HTTP Error

Hello,
We’ve just checked, and indeed your post sitemap is getting a 500 error.
5xx errors are usually caused due to server misconfiguration or other server issues.
Can you please share the website error log with us? Having the error log file will give a clear idea of why this might be happening.
You can follow this guide to enable debugging in WordPress https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ or you can get in touch with your web host, and they will help you locate the log file.
Looking forward to helping you.
The error is only given with the sitemaps of the posts. As for the categories, the portfolio etc everything is ok. This is the strange thing….
Hello,
We checked your post sitemaps and we can see you have a large number of images on your posts and that’s why the sitemaps are taking time to load.
In this case, please check the PHP values of your site by heading over to your WordPress dashboard > Tools > Site Health > Info tab > Server. If they are set too low on your site, please ask your hosting provider to upgrade the values according to the following and see if that works for you:
PHP Memory Limit: 1024M
Max input time: 150
PHP time limit: 120
PHP max input variables: 1000
You can also try to decrease the links per sitemap from WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings > General so that Rank Math can load the sitemaps faster.
Once done, please try to clear your website cache including any server-level cache and resubmit the sitemap on Google Search Console.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
