    Hello all,

    I am having a problem with ahref’s site audit.

    When I run the audit, I’m always getting canonical URL is missing.

    But when I check the said page source code, I am able to view link rel=canonical tag.

    URL is: worldinsport.com

    Any help is appreciated!

    Link:

  • Hello

    Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    It seems like some plugin or your theme is generating relative URLs instead of absolute URLs. This is a relative URL:
    canonical url

    It should be like:
    <link rel="canonical" href="https://rankmath.com/" />

    Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins, themes, and WordPress (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

    To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

    Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

    Please check the tutorial, you need to troubleshoot and not check the site’s health.

    Here’s the link on how to follow the troubleshooting process:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

    Only keep Rank Math & the default Twenty Twenty theme active on your website and then check the source code to confirm if the Canonical URLs are showing the absolute path instead of relative.

    Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    I’ve checked the source code for the homepage and on my browser, which is chrome, it says: link rel=”canonical” href=”https://worldinsport.com/&#8221;

    Screenshot you sent has: <link rel=”canonical” href=”//worldinsport.com/” – Without https?

    Or am I missing something?

    Hello,

    Yes, we are seeing the relative URLs in the Canonical URL:
    canonical url

    Please view after logging out.

    and it isnot the health check you have to check, please checl the tutorial on how to run the troubleshooting:

    Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I have now managed to replicate this issue in Firefox, I see the relative URL now.

    Once entering troubleshooting mode, when I view the site, it still displays the newspaper theme rather than twenty-twenty although that is activated?

    I think I have now managed to find the problem, WP Rocket!

    When this plugin is activated canonical is:
    <link rel=”canonical” href=”//worldinsport.com” />

    When this plugin is de-activated canonical is:
    <link rel=”canonical” href=”https://worldinsport.com&#8221; />

    The plugin is currently de-activated if you want to check if the problem is corrected on your end?
