Different pages but same page authority

#916447
  • I’ve a german language on my website https://foerechnerr.de/. And I want to add English language pages on this website too.

I want that these pages should retain the link juice. Like the link juice present on german based based passed to english based pages. If I canonicalized english page to De one, does it make it happen or I have to make page authority separately for the english pages?

  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting support.

Canonicalizing the English page to the German one will not transfer link juice or authority to the English page. Canonical tags are primarily used to indicate the preferred version of a page for search engines and do not pass authority between pages.

If you want to retain link juice across different language versions, you should:

    – Use the hreflang attribute to specify language and regional targeting. This helps search engines understand that the English and German pages are alternate versions of the same content. Your translation plugin should add the hreflang tag.

    – Build separate authority for the English pages by acquiring relevant backlinks and optimizing content.

While Rank Math will help you control SEO titles/descriptions, and control a lot of other important SEO settings. To handle the “multiple languages” part, you need a Multilingual Plugin like the TranslatePress plugin or WPML plugin, which integrates perfectly with Rank Math.

If you are using the TranslatePress plugin you can follow this guide on how to translate SEO titles and Meta descriptions: https://rankmath.com/kb/multiple-languages-seo-rankmath-translatepress/#translate-tile-description.

Then if you decide to use the WPML plugin, this guide will be of assistance to you: https://rankmath.com/kb/multilingual-seo-wpml/#translating-meta.

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.

Thanks Ike, I forgot to think this way. I will try to use hreflang attribute. But one thing more. If I use them I fear they don’t target keywords. Or this tag work smooth for targeting the keywords?

I think adding seperate English pages will then be fine. Give your opinion on this please.

    Hello,

The hreflang attribute doesn’t affect keyword targeting directly as it ensures search engines display the correct language version to users based on their region or language settings. Each language page can target its own set of keywords, so creating separate English pages is a great idea.

Make sure the English pages are well-optimized for their target audience and include relevant keywords to build authority.

If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
