Video Schema Generation

Hi, I’ve set a custom post “Video” so it has the Video Schema applied to it but I noticed that the schema is not being generated, I’ve to edit the post and set the schema manually for it to be generated in the HTML.

Shouldn’t the schema be generated with the default title, meta, etc values? I’ve read the documentation for the PRO version that has a automatic feature but I understand that is so the schema is generated with the specific data of that post.

Here is a picture of a Video post with the schema, it’s not customized (it displays the variables for the default values) https://file.io/SAgMNCriWVYM
If I save the configuration of the schema for that single post then the schema shows up in the HTML. There are pictures of before and after I save the schema for that post (In line 92 you can see when the schema generates correctly)

I used https://validator.schema.org/ to run those tests.

Please let me know if this is a bug or something like that or if is an expected behavior to manually save the Video schema specifically for it to be generated. This doesn’t happen with the Blog or Article schema

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Video Schema generation. It seems that you are experiencing a situation where the schema is not being automatically generated for your custom post type "Video" unless you manually save it.

In Rank Math, the automatic generation of Video Schema should indeed work when you have the Autodetect Video option enabled and the Schema module configured correctly. However, if the schema is not appearing in the HTML until you manually save it, this could be an unexpected behavior.

To ensure everything is set up correctly:

    1. Make sure that the Schema module is enabled in your Rank Math settings.
    2. Check that the Autodetect Video option is enabled for your custom post type under Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta Settings.
    3. Ensure that you have configured the Video Schema settings properly for your custom post type.

If all these settings are correct and you are still facing this issue, it may be worth checking if there are any conflicts with other plugins or themes that could be affecting the schema generation.

Since this behavior is not typical, we recommend replying to this ticket with your findings, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will be able to assist you further and determine if this is a bug or expected behavior.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue!

    Hello,

For the video schema, there are many additional fields like Embed URL, Content URL, and Duration that need to be added manually to make the schema work. Rank Math only includes the basic properties like Headline and Description automatically.

In the PRO version of the plugin, Rank Math automatically adds all the fields when you add the video from any supported platform. But in the free version, you’ll have to manually add them.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

Hi Siam, so I either fill them manually, purchase the PRO version so I can use the auto-generate option or the schema will not be generated. Is that right?

    Hello,

Yes, the video schema properties/data are automatically fetched in Rank Math PRO.

Hi Reinelle, if I purchase the PRO version and activate that feature then all my videos (that comply with Google requirements) will be indexable and validated as Video post? Another question is, using all other features like keyword rank tracker, index status, position history of keywords and posts, etc, will impact the speed of my website negatively? If it affects my website speed negatively or the videos have issues with the schema generation I will ask for a refund. If you guarantee that it will only bring a positive change then I can purchase the annual subscription today.

    Hello,

    1) The video schema can be added automatically to your existing post using the PRO plugin.

    2) Using the analytics module or other features of the PRO plugin does not affect the performance of your website.

    3) To ensure your peace of mind, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee after your purchase.

We hope that helps, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
