  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the "Couldn’t fetch" error in Google Search Console. It can be frustrating when everything seems to be set up correctly but the error persists.

Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Flush the Cache: Sometimes, an outdated cache can cause issues. To flush the sitemap cache, navigate to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings. Increase the value of the Links Per Sitemap by one and then save your settings. After that, go to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes to ensure the current settings are applied.
      Flush Permalinks

    2. Validate Your Sitemap: Use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to check if your sitemap is correctly configured. If there are any issues, they will be highlighted.

    3. Ensure Your Posts Are Set to Index: Check that your posts are not set to noindex. Go to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and ensure the Index checkbox is enabled.
      Index Titles and Meta settings

    4. Check Sitemap Location: Make sure your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The URL should look like this: https://yourdomainname.com/sitemap_index.xml.

    5. Add the Correct Site URL to Google Search Console: Ensure you have added the correct variation of your site URL in Google Search Console. You can refer to this article on adding a URL property to the Search Console.

If you’ve tried all these steps and are still encountering the issue, it may be worth waiting a bit longer as sometimes Google takes time to fetch the sitemap. If the problem persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

We checked your sitemap and we can see you’re using both Rank Math sitemap and XML Sitemap Generator for Google plugin at a time to generate your sitemap and you can see the product, category, and product category sitemap generated by the XML Sitemap Generator for Google plugin is blank:

Please note that it is not recommended to use multiple plugins for your sitemap as it can create conflicts on your website. If you want to use the sitemap from Rank Math, please disable that plugin.

Once done, please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemap, and resubmit only the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Please check and confirm the Last read column is updated.

If it’s not the problem likely lies with Google rather than Rank Math. It would appear that Google is labeling all sitemaps as “Couldn’t fetch” until they are actually read. Once the sitemap is read, the ‘Last read’ column will display the date it was last read. It usually takes a few hours or days for Google to read the submitted sitemap, so we kindly ask for your patience as you wait for the ‘Last read’ column to update.

    We hope this information helps.

    Thank you.

Should I request indexing to google this page : “https://mddconnect.asia/sitemap_index.xml”

    Hello,

No, that page will never be indexed. The sitemap is a discovery method but the actual XML file should not be indexed and that’s the reason that has the noindex on it.

The sitemaps are already accessible to Google so it’s just a matter of waiting for the sitemaps to be processed.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
