Search Console Not Discovering Page

I feel like I’ve tried everything I have seen online from editing the htaccess file, clearing and resetting permalinks, and excluding the sitemaps from the cache, but search console will still not pic up any pages on the sitemap after the status of discovery is successful.

Any ideas on how to get it up and running?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with Google Search Console not discovering your pages. It sounds like you’ve already taken several important steps to troubleshoot the problem. Here are a few additional suggestions that might help:

    1. Check for Technical Issues

Ensure there are no technical problems preventing Google from crawling your site. This includes checking for:

    • Robots.txt Restrictions: Make sure your robots.txt file is not blocking Google from accessing your pages.
    • Slow Load Times: If your site is slow, it may affect Google’s ability to crawl it efficiently. You can check your site’s speed and optimize it if necessary.
    • Broken Links: Ensure there are no broken links on your site that could hinder crawling.

    2. Internal Linking

Make sure to include internal links to the pages you want indexed from other high-traffic and relevant pages on your site. This can help Google discover those pages more easily.

    3. Content Quality

Avoid thin or duplicate content. Ensure that the pages you want indexed provide significant value to users and are unique.

    4. Crawl Budget Issues

If your site has many low-quality pages, it might affect how often Google crawls your valuable pages. Consider improving the quality of your content and internal linking structure to enhance crawlability.

    5. New Website Considerations

If your website is relatively new, it may take some time for Google to index all pages. Be patient, as it can take a while for Google to process new sites.

    6. Use Instant Indexing (for Rank Math PRO users)

If you have Rank Math PRO, consider using the Instant Indexing feature to submit your URLs directly to search engines.

    Hello,

The URL count on Google Search Console might not always match the number of URLs in the sitemap.

The numbers on GSC account for the URLs that were discovered via the sitemap but since there are other discovery methods such as internal links, it’s possible that some pages are discovered via those methods and thus don’t count towards the sitemap numbers on GSC.

As long as a URL is being discovered, that’s all that matters as the sitemap is only a discovery method but not the only one used by Google.

As a matter of fact, there are plenty of indexed pages already, so the website is being crawled:
