    Dear Rank Math Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out to seek assistance regarding a recurring “429 Too Many Requests” error affecting my site when using Rank Math. Specifically, I’m encountering this error:

429 Too Many Requests: Potential Spam Detected.

The issue seems to indicate that too many requests are being sent in a short period, possibly due to Rank Math’s features or settings. As a result, my site’s performance and search engine optimization efforts have been impacted.

Could you please advise on how to resolve or mitigate this issue? If there are specific adjustments or recommendations within Rank Math to limit request frequency or prevent this error, I would be grateful for any guidance.

Thank you for your assistance and support.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the "429 Too Many Requests" error. This error indicates that your IP address has sent too many requests to the IndexNow API within a short period. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Stop Submitting URLs Temporarily

To fix the 429 response code, you should stop submitting your URLs to the IndexNow API for a while.

    2. Disable Auto-Submission

You can also disable the automatic submission feature that sends your URLs to the IndexNow API every time you create, update, or delete a post. To do this:

    • Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Instant Indexing → Settings from your WordPress dashboard.
    • In the Auto-Submit Post Types setting, click the Select / Deselect All button until the Posts, Media, and Pages options are unchecked.

Deselect auto-submission in the Instant Indexing Settings

    3. Change Your API Key

If the issue persists, consider changing your API key. You can do this by clicking Change Key in the settings and then saving the changes. After that, clear your website cache and wait for a few hours before submitting another URL again.

Change your API key and Save

    4. Check for Other Sites on Shared Hosting

If you are on shared hosting, other websites on the same server may be using up the quota assigned to your shared IP address. In this case, you may need to wait it out or contact your hosting provider for assistance.

We hope these steps help you resolve the 429 response code with the IndexNow API. If you have further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

    Hello,

When you see a 429 error it means that the IP address of your website is sending too many requests to the API.

Also, that error suggests that you are exhausting the quota limit for the number of publishing requests per day.

Can you please confirm if you have selected the Auto-Submit Post Types? If yes, the post will be automatically sent to the IndexNow API when a post is published, updated, or trashed.

However, if you have other websites on the same server or are on shared hosting, There’s a possibility that other websites may be using up the quota.

For some initial troubleshooting, you can change the API key and clear your website cache. Then wait for a few hours and try submitting another URL again.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
