    Hi,

on our page are no meta tag descriptions, which is really annoying.

Maybe you have any idea how to fix it, I tried everything 🙂

    Thank you!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the meta tag descriptions on your page. If you’ve confirmed that the meta description is correctly set in your page’s source code, the next step is to ensure it’s reflected in Google’s search results. Here are a few steps you can take:

    1. Check Google Search Console: Use the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console. Log in and enter your page’s URL to see how Google views your page. This will show you the last crawl date and whether Google has indexed your changes.
      Inspect URL on GSC

    2. Request Indexing: If the last crawl date is before your changes, you can click the REQUEST INDEXING option to ask Google to re-crawl and update your page.
View Google's last crawl date on GSC

    3. Understand Google’s Discretion: Even after ensuring everything is set correctly, it’s important to note that Google may still choose to display a different meta title or description based on what it considers more relevant to the search intent. This is beyond our control, as search engines automatically decide what to display.

    4. Common Reasons for Meta Description Not Being Used: Here are some common reasons why Google might not use the meta description you’ve provided:

      • The meta description is not relevant or useful or lacks quality (e.g., just a collection of keywords).
      • The same meta description is provided across multiple pages.
      • The meta description doesn’t match what users are searching for, but other content on the page does.

If you have checked all these aspects and still face issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!
