Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap. The error message you provided suggests that there might be a problem with the structure of the XML sitemap, particularly with the tag under the
parent tag.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix this issue:
-
Validate Your Sitemap: Use a sitemap validation tool like the Validate XML Sitemap to check for any structural issues in your sitemap. This tool can help identify specific problems that need to be addressed.
-
Check for Correct XML Structure: Ensure that your sitemap is using the correct XML header:
Make sure that all tags are properly closed and that there are no extra characters or malformed tags.
-
Review Image Tags: If you are using image tags in your sitemap, ensure that the URLs provided in the “ tags are valid and correctly formatted. They should not contain any unexpected characters or formatting issues.
-
Flush Permalinks: Sometimes, flushing permalinks can resolve issues with sitemap generation. You can do this by going to the Permalinks settings in your WordPress dashboard and simply clicking Save Changes without making any modifications.
-
Check for Plugin Conflicts: If you have other plugins installed that might affect your sitemap, consider using the Health Check plugin to identify any conflicts.
-
Clear Cache: If you are using a caching plugin, clear your website cache and try regenerating the sitemap again.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

Troubleshooting the “Couldn’t Fetch” Error in Google Search Console » Rank Math
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello
I’ve tried Validate XML Sitemap and the tool doesn’t return any errors (see attached pic).
Then I flushed the Permalinks.
Do you have any idea where this problem comes from? Is it related to images? Thanks
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
We have seen this type of issue before with Divi. It happens when you are using the Blurb feature in Divi and using a background image in the Blurb.
Users have already reported this to Divi but we suggest you notify them as well to move the issue to priority. You can ask them if they have a solution where these background images of blurbs are not included in the sitemaps.
The functionality of Rank Math being able to see Divi images and adding them to the sitemap was added by the Divi team and that is why it is recommended that you contact them directly.
However, the only way to fix this issue temporarily is to disable the Images in the Sitemap option in Rank Math sitemap settings.
Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
OK…
I guess this is not a good idea to disable the Images in the Sitemap, is it…?
Moreover, do you think it’s a major problem to have errors like these in my sitemap?
I mean, is it better to disable the Images in the Sitemap or to keep them, at the risk of letting these errors persist?
Thks a lot 🙂
Hello,
The error should not stop Google from crawling your website, but it will continue to display the error on GSC if you do not resolve it.
The best option is to reach out to Divi to let them know about the issue so they can fix it earlier.
We hope this helps you resolve the issue.
Hello,
We are super happy that we could address your concern.
If you have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.
