Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Instant Indexing and the 404 error. A 404 error indicates that the requested URL does not exist on your website. This can happen if the page has been removed, the URL is incorrect, or there are broken links pointing to a non-existent page.
To resolve this issue, you can follow these steps:
- Check the URL: Ensure that the URL you are trying to index is correct and that the page exists on your site.
- Redirect Removed Pages: If the page has been moved or deleted, consider creating a 301 redirect from the old URL to a new one to preserve any link equity.
- Fix Broken Links: Check for any internal or external links pointing to the missing page and update them accordingly.
- Create a Custom 404 Page: Design a user-friendly 404 page that guides visitors to helpful content on your site.
For more details on fixing 404 errors, you can refer to our guide here.
If you continue to experience issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
The “Get status” returning a 404 error happens when the URL being tested was not previously submitted to the Indexing API.
So, you need to first submit it, and wait for Google to parse it and only then you can request the status for the URL.
We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
Thank you.
