Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the nooperer attribute on your links. It seems that this attribute might be added by a plugin or theme you are using, or it could be a result of some custom code in your site.
To remove the nooperer attribute from your links, you can try the following steps:
-
Check Your Plugins: Disable any plugins one by one to see if the attribute disappears. This will help identify if a specific plugin is adding it.
-
Inspect Your Theme: If you are using a custom theme, check the theme settings or any custom scripts that might be adding this attribute.
-
Custom Code: If you have added any custom code to your site (in functions.php or elsewhere), review it to see if it includes the nooperer attribute.
-
Use Developer Tools: You can use your browser’s developer tools to inspect the links and see where the attribute is being added from.
If you still have questions or need further assistance, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and help you resolve this issue.
Thank you for raising this concern!
Hello,
When you add a link and select “Open in New Tab”, then WordPress will add the rel=”noopener” by default to the link code.
If that’s not the case on your site, assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), this can be caused by a plugin or your active theme.
To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c
Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.
Looking forward to helping you.
