  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you’re facing with your article. Thank you for raising your concerns regarding the outbound links and the Table of Contents.

    Outbound Links

To address the issue of having all outbound links as nofollow, you can manage your external links in Rank Math by following these steps:

    1. Enable Follow Links: Ensure that you are not using the option to nofollow all external links. You can find this setting in the General Settings of Rank Math.
    2. Whitelist Trusted Domains: If you want certain domains to be followed, you can add them to the Nofollow Exclude Domains list. This way, links to those domains will not have the nofollow attribute.
    3. Add Follow Links: Make sure at least one of your external links is a followed link. This can be done by ensuring that the link does not have the nofollow attribute.

For more detailed instructions, you can refer to our knowledge base article.

    Table of Contents

To add a Table of Contents (ToC) to your article, you can use the Rank Math Table of Contents block. Here’s how:

    1. Add the ToC Block: In your post editor, click on the + icon to add a new block and search for "Table of Contents".
    2. Configure the ToC: Once added, you can configure it to automatically generate a list based on your headings.
    3. Expand/Collapse Feature: If you want to make it collapsible, you can follow the code instructions provided in our documentation to add a toggle feature.

If you need further assistance or specific guidance on implementing these features, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further!

Best of luck with your article!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please check if you have enabled the option to set nofollow to all external links under your WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Links:

If that is enabled, then all outbound links will be set to nofollow unless their domains are added to the exclusion list on that same page.

Regarding the Table of Contents test, it looks like you’re using the Classic editor on your website but the Table of Contents of Rank Math only works in the Gutenberg block editor. In this case, you can use any other ToC plugins mentioned here: https://rankmath.com/kb/table-of-contents-not-detected/#toc-plugins

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

how to add it with ”Classic editor”

    Hello,

The Rank Math Table of Content(TOC) only works in the default WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg).

To add TOC to your Classic editor you have to explore alternative plugins. These are some of them that are compatible with Rank Math: https://rankmath.com/kb/table-of-contents-not-detected/#toc-plugins

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.
