  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your site name not displaying correctly in search results. To ensure that Google displays your site name instead of the URL, you need to follow a few steps to add your site name to the appropriate locations that Google checks.

Steps to Add Your Site Name:

    1. Add a Site Name to Your Homepage Title Tag:

      • Go to WordPress DashboardSettings and enter your site name in the Site Title field. Don’t forget to save changes.
Enter a site name in Site Title field
    2. Add a Site Name to Your Homepage H1 Header Tag:

      • If your homepage is set to display a static page, navigate to WordPress Dashboard → Pages, hover over the page labeled “Front Page,” and click Edit. Enter your site name as the page title and click Update.

    3. Add a Site Name to Your Homepage Meta Title:

    4. Add a Site Name to Your Open Graph Metadata:

      • If you have Rank Math installed, the Open Graph metadata is automatically added to your homepage, so you can skip this step.

    After Updating Your Site Name:

    • It may take some time for Google to reflect these changes. To speed up the process, you can request Google to reindex your homepage via Google Search Console. Enter your homepage URL and click REQUEST INDEXING.
      Click Request Indexing

Once you’ve completed these steps, please allow some time for Google to crawl your site again. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

Why Google Displays URL Instead of Site Name in SERP? » Rank Math

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please note that there are various sources that Google uses to define your site name on SERPs including:

    • og:site_name meta tag
    • WebSite structured data
    • Content in title elements
    • Heading elements

Among them, Rank Math automatically includes the og:site_name meta tag and the WebSite Schema on your website, and the rest you’ll have to include manually. You can also check the Google documentation on site-name: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/site-names

However, as is mentioned in the documentation, this process is automated by the algorithm and even though it takes into account the information on the website, it is still not guaranteed that your site name will come up correctly in Google SERPs since it’s solely decided by Google what they found relevant and user-friendly and which one they want to show.

Hope this helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
