Usually, that issue is due to a cache plugin caching the sitemap. Are you using one?
If yes, try by adding the following caching exceptions and resaving the permalinks:
/(.*)sitemap(.*).xml
/(.*)sitemap.xsl

Yes, I do use w3 Total cache plugin, Do I have to add that your given code in .htaccess? And if yes, then I am getting problem with editing it via Rankmath, it is not editable even after checking that box (yes I understand the risks and I want to edit the file)

The code is meant to be added to your Caching plugin exclude URLs list.
As for the issue with htaccess, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
