    Hi,

I have added a whole lot of redirects from old pages to new pages and none of them are working?
I have run your troubleshooting tips but they are still not working.
    Any ideas,
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the redirects not working. It can be frustrating when things don’t go as planned.

Here are a few things you can check:

    1. Check for Infinite Loops: If you have accidentally created a redirect that points back to itself, it can cause an infinite loop. You can check this by looking at the redirects and ensuring there are no redirects with the same source and destination URLs.
    2. Update Rank Math: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Rank Math, as older versions may have bugs that have been fixed in updates.
    3. Debugging Tools: You can use the Redirection Debugger to diagnose the issue further. This tool can help identify if there are any conflicts or misconfigurations.
    4. Check .htaccess File: If you are using custom redirection rules in your .htaccess file, ensure they are correctly configured. You can use an htaccess tester to debug your rules before applying them.

If you’ve tried all these steps and the problem persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hi,

I have run through all of the above, enabled the Debug but can’t see anything at all. All redirects that I have done are just not applying at all and no idea why!
I use your redirect tool on other sites I have and never had this issue, so either something is wrong or I am doing something wrong!

    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please share a redirection you created on your website which is not working. You can share it in this structure:

    S`ource:
    Redirection Type:
    Destination URL:
    `

Or, you can share a screenshot of the redirection by using a tool like https://imgur.com/upload so that we can check this further for you.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Hi, can anyone please get back to me re the above.

    Many thanks,
    Mark

    Hi,

All redirections created are not working, that is 12 in total, so something is not right if they are all not working, it is bizarre really!
Please see screenshots of the redirects, all for

    Hello,

From your screenshot, it seems that the redirects that are not working are ending in .html URLs.

Please check if those HTML pages are not present in your website files as those are still opening and the redirects will not work.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi,

They shouldn’t be present as it is a complete new website installation on WordPress which has a new set up. It is google who has found them and decided to index them. I knew nothing about them as there has been a few websites since this one and the current one is the first wordpress install. Then I am also redirecting the pages from the previous site, these are also not working and are not .html ones so don’t know why these won’t work either.

I basically just need to get google to stop indexing the old .html pages, so if there is another way, please let me know.
Then I need the redirects to work for the previous site pages.

    Many thanks,
    Mark

    Hello,

The .html links like the one below are still opening:
    https://mdelectrics.co.uk/about_us.html

If they are already removed from your website files, they should return a 404 error.

You should delete or at least move those .html files into a folder since those files exist in your root directory and they are still accessible.

If you need assistance with managing your website files, you may get in touch with your web host.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Ok, I have no idea where they are or why they are there as like I have said they are years old and have since been overwritten by other sites so no idea why they are still there.

Will contact the hosting company and see if they can help.
This still doesn’t solve the issue of the none .html ones though, these are all from the previous site which in the past I have just redirected on other sites and it has worked.

    Many thanks,
    Mark

    Hello,

The non-HTML links are redirecting correctly. Here is a screenshot to confirm that:

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thank you, they definitely weren’t working the other day but turning on the debugger must have sorted it.

Thank you for your help as always!
