Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Breakdance social share button after updating to WordPress 6.6.1. Thank you for raising this concern.
It seems that the problem may be related to how Rank Math interacts with the social share functionality. Since disabling Rank Math resolves the issue, it indicates a potential conflict between Rank Math and the Breakdance plugin.
Unfortunately, we do not have specific information regarding this conflict in our current context. We recommend replying to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will be able to assist you further with this issue.
Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this matter!
Hello,
We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
We logged into your site, but unfortunately, we were unable to replicate this issue there.
When we clicked on the button with Rank Math activated it still took us to the x.com page: https://x.com/EdfromPelican
Here is a screen recording of our experience: https://www.loom.com/share/390f909aa347448ea673eb461d1add13?sid=20bc5f4f-4219-4d33-9122-6d42e12b967b
In case the situation you are describing is different you can share a screencast with us.
You can use a tool like Loom for screencasts and share the generated link with us here.
We look forward to helping you further.
Thanks.
Thanks for investigating but it’s the social share button that doesn’t work, see video…

When clicked a popup appears but won’t load x.com. The video wouldn’t show the popup.
Thanks
Hello,
We can now replicate the issue on your site.
We have referred this ticket to our development team so they can investigate further.
We appreciate your patience while we work on resolving this issue for you.
Thanks.
Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate your assistance in this matter.
Hello,
We identified the cause of the issue to be the |
as the Separator Character
under RankMath Dashboard > Titles & Meta > Global Meta > Separator Character
, it works as expected when set to anything else besides the |
character.
We would like to get to the bottom of this and resolve this issue permanently; but we will require more details on how the social share buttons are added to the pages (they don’t show up under edit post)
Thank you.
Thanks so much for identifying the problem. The share button is a Breakdance widget within the single post template that can be seen in the attached video within sensitive data.
Thank you
Hello,
We’re still in the process of getting to the root cause of the issue, and we cannot reproduce this on our dev setups.
Could you please renew the admin login as it seems to have expired, so we may continue troubleshooting.
Thank you.
thanks for the update, link has been extended
Hello,
We found the issue to be coming from wp-content/plugins/breakdance/subplugins/breakdance-elements/elements/Social_Share_Buttons/assets/social-share-buttons.js
from L36,
When we try the encodeURI(title)
at L49 (for the document.title
) it works as expected even when the |
is selected as the separator character.
Could you please share this information with the breakdance Team, and let us know of their related feedback.
Thank you.
Many thanks, I have passed on to the Breakdance support team.
