Sitemap Not Updating Automatically for Non-Administrator Posts

    Hi all,

I’m facing an issue where the sitemap does not automatically update when a user with a role other than Administrator (e.g., Editor, Author) creates a new post. However, when an Administrator publishes or edits a post created by an Editor or Author, the sitemap updates as expected.

    Regards

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the sitemap not updating automatically for posts created by users with roles other than Administrator. This behavior can sometimes occur due to specific settings or configurations within your Rank Math setup.

To ensure that the sitemap updates correctly for all user roles, please check the following:

    1. User Role Permissions: Ensure that the user roles (Editor, Author) have the necessary permissions to publish posts. Sometimes, if a post is saved as a draft instead of being published, it may not trigger an update in the sitemap.
    2. Sitemap Settings: Verify that the sitemap settings in Rank Math are configured correctly to include all post types and statuses.
    3. Caching Issues: If you are using any caching plugins, they might be affecting the sitemap updates. Try clearing the cache to see if that resolves the issue.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, we recommend replying to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Usually, this type of issue comes from caching and not from the roles.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

If the issue persists, do let us know here and we’ll assist you further.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thanks for your prompt answer.

I believe this may not be just a caching issue, as the problem only occurs with posts created by non-administrators. If caching were the cause, it should also affect posts by administrators, correct?

I’ve followed all the suggested steps—flushing the sitemap cache, excluding it from caching plugins, and adding the no-cache filter—but the issue persists.

    Regards

We created a new user with the editor role and added a new post. It was included in the sitemap but at the bottom:
