  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the homepage meta description not updating in the search engine results pages (SERPs). Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    1. Check if the Changes are Reflected in the Source Code: Ensure that the new meta description is correctly set in the source code of your homepage. You can do this by viewing the page source in your browser.

    2. Google Indexing: Sometimes, it takes time for Google to re-crawl and re-index your page. You can check if Google has indexed the latest version of your page by entering `cache:https://rankmath.com/wordpress/plugin/seo-suite/ into your search bar. This will show you the last cached version of your page. If the cache date is from before you made the changes, you may need to wait longer for Google to update it.
Enter cache followed by the full URL into the search bar
      Check date in cache

    3. Relevance of Meta Description: Ensure that your meta description is relevant and useful. If it lacks quality or is just a collection of keywords, Google might choose not to display it. Additionally, if the same meta description is used across multiple pages, it could also lead to issues.

      • Common reasons Google might not use your meta description include:
        • The description is not relevant or useful.
        • The same description is used on many pages.
        • The description doesn’t match what users are searching for.

    4. Patience: If everything seems correct, it may just take more time for Google to reflect the changes in SERPs.

    5. Feedback to Google: If you believe that your meta description is better suited than what Google is displaying, you can provide feedback through their Search Help Community.

If you have checked all these aspects and still face issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

Google Shows A Different Meta Title/Description For My Site » Rank Math

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please note that nowadays, Google does that very commonly. Even when everything is fine, Google may choose to display a different meta description or no description for your search query result. Google may skip the custom metadata you have set and instead display something from the page’s content that better matches the search intent.
