canonical issue in Categories

I am experiencing around 414 canonical issues with category pages. Some categories are displaying different canonical URLs. I’ve tried editing the canonical settings under Rank Math and adding code, but it hasn’t resolved the issue. The canonical URLs are still incorrect, as shown in the attached image. How can I fix this?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the canonical URLs on your category pages. It seems that the canonical settings are not reflecting as expected.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check Canonical Settings

Make sure that you have set the correct canonical URL in the Rank Math meta box for the affected category pages. You can do this by:

    2. Clear Cache

If you are using any caching plugins, clear the cache after making changes to ensure that the new settings are applied. Sometimes, cached versions of your pages may still show old canonical URLs.

    3. Check for Plugin Conflicts

There might be a conflict with another plugin that is affecting the canonical settings. You can use the Health Check plugin to troubleshoot this.

    4. Review Custom Code

If you have added any custom code related to canonical URLs, please review it to ensure it is not overriding the settings made in Rank Math.

    5. Use Rank Math’s Instant Indexing

After correcting the canonical URL, consider using Rank Math’s Instant Indexing feature to submit the updated page to Google. This can help speed up the re-indexing process. You can find this option by hovering over the post or page in the Posts section and selecting Instant Indexing: Submit Page.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with any additional details or screenshots, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please check if you’ve set any custom canonical URL in the Rank Math SEO Meta box Advanced tab: https://rankmath.com/kb/advanced-tab/#canonical-url

If there is no canonical URL set in there, then this issue could be caused by conflicting plugins/themes on your website. Kindly make sure you are using the latest version of all the plugins and themes, please update if not yet.
