    Hello,

I am writing to you regarding an issue I have identified in the Google Search Console for my website. Google indicates that some links are “crawled, currently not indexed.” The links in question are primarily those related to the wp-content folder of my WordPress installation. Here is an example of one such link: https://mywebsite.fr/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/51318.webp.

I would like to know if it is necessary to ignore these messages or if any corrective actions are required to resolve these issues. If a correction is possible, could you please provide me with the steps to follow?

Thank you in advance for your assistance and advice.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the "Crawled, Currently Not Indexed" status in Google Search Console. This status indicates that Google has crawled your page but has not indexed it yet. It’s important to note that Google does not index all pages submitted, and finding some URLs under this status is completely normal.

In your case, if the links are primarily related to the wp-content folder, they may not be critical for indexing, especially if they are images or other media files. If these pages do not provide significant value or content for users, it is generally safe to ignore this status.

However, if you notice that important pages with valuable content are also marked as "Crawled, Currently Not Indexed," it could indicate a site-wide quality issue. In such cases, improving the overall quality of your website and ensuring a good internal linking structure can help increase the chances of indexing.

Here are some steps you can take to improve your site’s overall quality:

    1. Check Internal Linking: Ensure that important pages have internal links from relevant pages on your website. You can set these important pages as pillar content and use Rank Math to suggest relevant internal links.
    2. Evaluate Content Quality: Make sure that the content on your important pages is valuable and useful to users.
    3. Use URL Inspection Tool: Check the status of your pages using the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console to see if there are any discrepancies in reporting.

If you find that there is a reporting issue or if you have further concerns, we recommend replying to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope this information helps you!

Thank you for the automated response. If I understand correctly, I should ignore these statuses. However, won’t this negatively impact my ranking in Google’s search results?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

“Crawled, currently not indexed” means Google has crawled said page but has not indexed it yet. Google does not index all the URLs we submit, and finding a certain number of URLs under this status is completely normal.

If you’re seeing URLs with this status that should be indexed but aren’t, you can use the URL Inspection Tool to confirm the status and request reindexing.

We hope this helps clarify the issue. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Thanks for the answer,
I don’t want it to be indexed, so can I leave it like that? I won’t be penalized by google?

    Hello,

Yes, in that case, you can ignore the report – you will not be penalized by Google for this reason.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math
